Topic:   Scomm32 how to check if the target gets the data

By: GuestPosted on: Oct 3 2017 at 06:05:35 AM
Hi,

i just purchased Scomm32 and my question is there a function to check
if the receiver gets the data (there is no handshaking).

like seeing if the buffer gets empty or something,

its about sending data to a POS Printer and to check if the printer receives his data or not.

Greetings

In SComm32 there is a property .OverlappedIO

If OverlappedIO is set to False then when you transmit anything the .Output function returns after the data is sent.

But RS232 on its own can not check that the data actually was received by the printer. For example what if the printer was not switched on. What if the cable was not connected or the cable is broken.

Does the POS printer have any protocol?
